Artist's Description

A waving anemone captured in The Andaman sea in Thailand. These beautiful creatures sway back and forth to the move saltwater through their bodies. This way they gather small food particles. They also serve as a haven for anemone fish who snuggle down into the tentacles. The snuggling smears an unpalatable substance on their bodies which aides in protection from being eaten.

About Jean Noren

Jean Noren

My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
