A single balsam root wild flower stands guard before the stunningly beautiful painted hills in western Oregon. These colorful Hills are found near John day. On the day I visited, a thunder/snowstorm occurred producing beautiful light but uncomfortable shooting conditions. This photo was taken just before it started pouring
